FARMERS , PRESIDENT. MR. W. J. POLSON'S POSITION. KAPONGA DISSATISFACTION. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") NEW PLYMOUTH, Friday. Dissatisfaction with the position of Mr. W. J. Poison, M.P., as a member of a political party and loader of the Farmers' Union was heard at the Kaponga Farmers' Union meeting. "I would like to know whether Mr. Poison speaks in the House ae president of the Farmers' Union or a political party member," said one farmer. The secretary, Mr. E. Snowdon, said he thought farmers were all unanimous that whatever they asked Mr. Poison to do he had got it done. t ; A Voice: He would have to turn round a good deal. Another Voices He would not have much trouble in doing that. Mr. Williams eaid it was time they had a president who was not associated with any political party, and was not a member of Parliament. They had nothing against Mr. Poison personally, but he would not change his politics, and he would not leave the House, Mr. Brown: He will change iiis politics, but he will not leave the House. Mr. Marr: He had too big a job to get there for that. The president eaid there was no doubt a good deal of dissatisfaction with Mr. Poison's position. After further discussion, it was decided to instruct delegates to the provincial conference to support a remit passed by the Eltham branch urging Mr. , Poison to di.ssocir.ee himself from party politics whilst he is president of the Farmers' Union.
