TO DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Keen business on rising markets characterised the Exchange this morning. Interest was fully sustained in Woolworth's issues. Sydivey shares, cum rights, brought £9 30/, further buyers, £9 11/6, and sellers £10 16/6. Buyers for New Zealands offered £6 11/, sellers £8, and West Australians also improved. Buyers of Government stocks again extended their limits without a seller coming in. Among the banks E., S. and A. and New Zealands had business, the latter at a small rise, the market closing, buyers £2 5/4, sellers £2 5/6. Breweries were steady round £2 13/3. Tooth's were wanted at £2 12/6, sellers £2 13/. Most interest in the miscellaneous' section lay in Australian issues. Several showed much stronger rates. Coles, doubtless in sympathy with Woolworths, rose to £3 15/ and £3 14/11. Broken Hill reached a new high level at £3 2/9. Tobaccos were quoted on a firmer liuvrket, and Dunlops improved. Plume Pipes (Australia) were steady. In the mining section Marthas had the first local business this year. Morgans were slack between buyers 15/ and sellers 15/3. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
