CANCER CAMPAIGN.
AUCKLAND BRANCH'S WORK. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The annual meeting of the Auckland Division of the New Zealand branch of the British Empire Cancer Campaign Society was held yesterday afternoon, the Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, presiding. The honorary treasurer, Mr. M. R. O'Shea, presented a financial statement, which showed that the assets 011 March 3L last amounted to £4180. The division had contributed £512 to the New Zealand branch. The division was indebted to the Guardian Trust and Executors Company, Ltd., ror handling the finances for a purely nominal fee. Dr. W. Gilinour referred to the proposals of the Travis trustees in Christchurch to establish a research fellowship in cancer and tuberculosis in New Zealand. The trustees recommended that a salary should be offered for combined research, and it was estimated that a total expenditure of £3500 would bo involved. He considered that the two branches of ■research should be separated and allocated to two men, as different types of work wero involved. The meeting decided to instruct its delegate' to vote in favour of separate appointments. The following officers were elected: — President, Mr. Ernest Davis; vice-presi-dent, Dr. N. McDougall; secretary, Mr. D. McKenzie; honorary treasurer, Mr. M. R. O'Shea; treasurer, the Guardian Trust and Executors Company. Ltrt.; executive committee, Mr. W. Wallace (ex officio), Mrs. K. Gordon, Mr. K. Mackenzie, Dr. Bruce Mackenzie, Mr. D. McKenzie, Dr. W. Gilinour, co-opted members, Mrs. M. Dreaver, Mr. W. J. HoldsworUi, Mr. C. J. Tunks; auditors, Mr. N. A. Dutliie.
