DORIAN CHOIR CONCERT
A concert will be given by the Auckland Dorian Choir, consisting wholly ot trained voices, in the Town liau Concert Chamber 011 Thursday evening, May 14, when Rossini's "Stabat' Mater" and other varied selections will be presented by Misses Winifred Hill and Phyllis Tye and Messrs. Leslie Russell and Robert pimmers (soloists), and a Quartet comprising Miss Gwenda Weir, Mrs. C. de Berg, Messrs. E. Robins and J. Bree. Accompanists will be Mrs. R. Reed and the Vincent Aspcy string quartet. Mr. Alfred Bryant will conduct the choir. ROTORUA CONCERT PARTY. A feature of Rotorua's welcome to visitors has long been its Maori entertainment, and on Friday and Saturday next in the Town Hall, Auckland residents will have an opportunity of seeing and hearing such a party in a performance in native costume. A programme of solos, choruses, poi dances, hakae and war dances is arranged. This party entertained the Duke of Gloucester, has been recorded in many of its best numbers, and at the Christmas carnival in Rotorua created much enthusiasm amongst an audience of thousands. Team work and rhythm is said to bo a. revelation, and the best soloists, including a new youthful member, will be heard in popular numbers. The party is fresh from a tour of the southern and northern portions of the North Island, where it broke all previous records for attendances at this class of entertainment.
