HARRIER RACING.

| TECHNICAL OLD BOYS. I Despite adverse weather conditions there was a record .attendance at the opening harrier run of the Technical College Old Boys' Athletic Club from the Mount Albert Baptist Church. The runners broke up into two packs— the "dead slows," under the whistle of veteran T. M. Wilson, and the "slows," under deputy-captain J. Mortimer. Thunderstorms, hall showers and gales did not deter the doughty score or so who liattled their way round some four to live miles of varied country and road. -With one accord they voted the run a great one, but "great" had a whole host of meaning. At the conclusion of the run Mr. A. •Moon extended the thanks of the club for hospitality extended In providing afternoon tea. Mrs. Ohms replied. BAPTIST CLUB. In spite of adverse weather conditions, 17 members of the Auckland Baptist Harrier Club turned out at the Sandringham Baptist Church. The fast pack ran across lields to May Road School and then home via Mount Albert. The slow pack ran in the direction of Three Kings. Results of the fast pack's run-in :—S. Edgar 1, W. Fountain 2, R. Toinson 3. Next week members will take jiart in a combined run at Birkenhead.

PRESBYTERIAN B.C. CLUB. In wintry conditions the opening of the fourth season of the Auckland Presbyterian Bible Class Harrier Club took place on Saturday. There was an attendance of 33 members, who ran in three packs under Devitt, Young and Neil. Newcomers found the going somewhat difficult and a fierce hail storm proved slightly chilly. The run took place from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. T. Clifton Webb, Woodley Avenue, Remuera. After the run the members were entertained by Mr. Webb, vice-president, and Mrs. AVebb. On behalf of members, the club captain thanked them and Mr. Webb replied. The president, Rev. W. Bower Black, welcomed new; members and wished the club a successful season. Results of the runs-In: — Slow Pack.—A. Constantine 1, B. Devitt 2, K. O. Handcock 3, J. Mandeno 4. Fast Pack.—7. O. B. Neil 1, H. J. Crawford 2, W. Brown 3, W. A. Ross 4, G. Robertson 5, M. Dickey G. A.U.C. CLUB. The" opening run of the University Harrier Club was held from St. George's Hall. Ranfurly Road, Epsom, on Saturday, and in spite of the unfavourable conditions prevailing there was an attendance of about 30. A pleasing feature was til? large number of newsmembers present, several of whom ran well. Afternoon tea was served at the conclusion of the run. All things considered, the club has every prospect of a happy season.

WESLEY CLUB. In" spite of the adverse weather conditions, a fine attendance was recorded at the official opening run of the Wesley Harrier Club from the Epsom Methodist Church. The president. Mr. G, C. Riddell. welcomed all new members, and after a brief address, ileclared the season open. The 40 members present were divided Into three packs led by A. Graham, P. Mills and I. Spooner respectively. A course of approximately six miles was followed, embracing the Epsom, Te Papapa and One Tree Hill districts. At the conclusion of the run a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the ladies of the church for the provision of afternon tea. LYNNDALE CLUB. The Lynndale Harrier Club held its official opening from the Avondale Racecourse on Saturday. Prior to the run the runners were addressed by the club president, Mr. J. P. Dolan. He welcomed the new runners and pointed out to- the harriers that all who competed the season without missing a club run would be presented with a club monogram. The election of captain and deputy captain resulted in Mr. R. "Crompton being elected to the former position and Mr. G. Rogers to the position of deputy captain. There was a good muster of members and. these took part in a seven-mile run. The fast pack headed by Dolan aud Collins soon caught the slow pack and ran in about five minutes ahead of them. Next week this club will combine with the centre at Birkenhead, and members must catch the 2 p.m. boat.
