SIAMESE PRINCE VICTOR, NECK-AND-NECK DUEL AT BROOKLANDS. LONDON", May 3. The Siamese Prince Birabongse, whose design for a bronze fountain is exhibited at the present Royal Academy summer exhibition, has proved his versatility by winning the International Trophy race at Brooklands on Saturday. The Prince, who drove an Era car, averaged 91 miles an hour. He fought out a neck-and-neck duel in the last lap at a speed .of 130 miles an hour with R. Mays, British hill-climbing champion, who also drove an Era car. Prince Birabongse flashed past the winning po6t four yards ahead of Mays in the finest finish seen at Brooklands for years. The Prince's time for the distance of 250 miles was 2 hours 52 minutes 29 seconds. SPEED TRIALS AT MURIWAI. The New Zealand Motor Racing Drivers" Association held its speed trials at Muriwai Beach yesterday, and, although racing conditions were very poor and the surface soft, some high speeds were registered. The highest speed was recorded by Mr. G. Smith, driving a super-charged Austin seven racer, who touched 05 miles an hour. A strong south-westerly wind resulted in the tide being much higher than usual. The speed trial figures are subject to confirmation. Results are:— Speed Trial (flying miles).—Austin Seven (G. Smith), 4lis, 37 :i-3s, average 39 4-os, 1; Brooklands Rile.v (R. A. Dexter, jun.), 43 3-ss, 40s, 41 4-ss, 2; Ford, model A (C. Segedln), 54 4-ss, 51s, 52 4-ss, 3. Championship Event (five laps, rolling start).—Austin 1, Riley 2, Wolseley Hornet (Itoyeroft), 3. By securing second place in this race Dexter (Riley) annexed the Miller Michelin Cup for the year, his total points being eight, against George Smith's (Austin) seven. The Miller Special, previous runner-up for the cup, did not compete yesterday.
