TEACHER FAREWELLED.
ONEHUNGA KINDERGARTEN. An enjoyable function organised by the mothers' committee of the Onehunga Free Kindergarten took place in the Coronation Hall on Wednesday, when many parents and friends of the children attending the kindergarten assembled to farewell Miss L. Rothbury, the assistantdiroctor, who will shortly take over the directorship of the Sunbeams' Kindergarten in the city. The secretary of the mothers' committee, Mrs. G. Rawlineon, presented Miss Rothbury with a chromium clock and a box of handkerchiefs. Several other speakers paid a tribute to the splendid work done by Miss Rothbury during her time at the Onehunga Kindergarten, and wished her every success in her new sphere. On behalf of the kindergarten committee, Mrs. David Cutlibert presented the guest of honour with a gold-mounted fountain pen and a gold pencil. During the morning vocal and elocutionary items were rendered by the scholars who also presented their late teacher with bouquets. The opportunity was taken to extend a welcome to Miss Valerie Pope, who will succeed Miss Rothbui y at the beginning of the month. Morning tea was .served by the mothers' committee, comprising Miss R. Sutherland, director and president, Miss L. Rothbury, assistant-director and treasurer, Mrs. G. Rawlinson, and Mesdames J. Fitzpatrick, H. Eustace, R. McCullough, Kay, Syme, Dickenson, A. Filmer, M. Sharp and Anderson. Members of the kindergarten committee present were: —Mrs. David Cutlibert, president, Mrs. Price and Mrs. Val Kirk, vice-presidents, Mesdames Kirk Jones, J. E. Neill, C. Robinson, R. Kirkham, J. Mark, R. G. Bissett, D. Hyauiason, E. F. Jone3 and E. V. Sutherland.
