GOLDEN DAWN. The report of Golden Dawn Gold Mines, Ltd., for the fortnight ending April 4. 1036, 16 :—No. 3 level: Crosscut west off drive north No. 1 reef has been driven 20ft, total 397 ft. The country rock is of a Arm nature. The mineral vein 4in wide is still running with the drive. No. 3 level: Drive south of shaft on No. 1 reef advanced 10ft, lOin wide, value £1 9/11 per ton. No. 3 level: Drive south on east wall branch No. 3 reef driven Oft, 12in wide, value 3/4 per ton. No. 3 level: Crosscut west off drive south on No. 1 reef to cut westwall branch reef driven 14ft. No. 3 level: Rise on No. 1 reef from first crosscut east has risen 14ft. averages lOin wide, value 6/7 per ton. Bottom intermediate level: Drive south on No. 1 reef south driven 12ft, averages 121n wide, value 10/2 per ton. Bottom intermediate level: Crosscut west on reef formation oil drive south on westwall branch reef driven 7ft. The formation here has pinched out at present, but we are still in a good class of country. Bottom Intermediate level: Drive north on westwall branch reef driven Bft, averages 15in wide, value £4 3/2 per ton. No. 3 level: Stoping on magazine reef north of main shaft below the level, lOin wide, value £11 7/ per ton. No. 3 level: Stoping on castwall branch reef south of crosscut west. The reef here averages 12in wide, value £11 15/1 per ton. Bottom intermediate level : Stoping on No. 1 reef south of Grey's old, fetopes 2ft wide, value .€2 19/2 per ton. Bottom intermediate level: Stoping on castwall branch of No. 3 reef south, ISin wide, value £2 0/ per ton. Bottom intermediate level: Stoping on westwall branch reef in the north and south blocks. The reef here averages 4ft wide, last assay value £15 17/7 per ton. BIG RIVER GOLD. The report of Big Kiver Gold Mines, Ltd., Reefton, for the week ending April 8, 1936, is:— Repairs to the bhaft below No. 2 chamber were started at 20ft below the' level and have been completed to the level The timber on the north end was In a' verv bad state* being rotted almost entirely away. Repairs to No. 2 chamber: A new opening-out set has been placed in position and this chamber is now in Kood order. Repairs to shaft above No 2 chamber: Repairs have been completed to sft above the cap of the chamber set. Repairs to the winze to No. 1 intermediate level and to the dam are proceeding. MATAKI GOLD DREDGING. The dredgemaster of the Matakl Gold Dredging Co., Ltd., reported: — lor the week ended April 12 the dredge worked for 111 hours on a face of 4301t with an average depth of 16ft, pulling ahead 29ft in the bank and 18ft in the river, the cold'return being 2Soz sdwt. Ihe dredge was stopped at 10 o'clock on Ihuijsday nisht in readiness tor boiler inspection, whicii took place on Friday. Conditions arc much the same as the previous week and although I have managed to raise the water Gin pu£ is still bad. DAWN OF HOPE MINES. The mine report (Thames) of the Dawn of Hope Gold Mines, no liability, is.—ilie stope between Nos. 1 and 2 winzes continues to produce high-grade ore and in the last breaking down some specimen stone was securcd. The winze on the reef below the floor of the level is down 3ft, but none of the reef has yet been broken down. Aro. and party, tributers in the mine, crushed one load-for 17oz Odwt of cold. MATAKI JUNCTION. Last week's return from the Mataki Junction, Murchison, dredge was 520z for 9500 yards The dredge worked only 80 hours for the week, closing down on Thursday for the Easter holidays. WORKSOP EXTENDED. The following is the official return of the Worksop Extended Gold Dredging Co., Ltdi, for the week ended April 9. 1936 :— Yield, 270z; hours dredged, 136; yardage treated. 10,500.
