NO AGREEMENT.

BAKING- TRADE DISPUTE.

No agreement resulted from a conference yesterday morning between the Masters Bakers' Association and bakers' operatives and carters' representatives, to consider the workers' application for restoration of wages to the 1931 -level and the employers' wages offer or alternative suggestion to refer the dispute to the Arbitration Court. The employers' wages offer would have raised wages, but not to the 1031 level, and would also have left conditions as at present, whereas the workers want a 40-hour week and no work done before 6 a.m.

Mr. P. Hally, conciliation , commissioner, presided. Mr. E. W. J. Boden represented the Industries and Commerce Department; Mr. E. J. Watson and Mr. F. H. Bourke the operatives and carters; and Mr. W. E. Anderson and Mr. S. S. Green the master bakers.
