FARMHAND DROWNED.

BODY IN SHALLOW DAM. I SHOES ON DOORSTEP. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, Monday. A drowning accident - with unusual circumstances is reported, the victim being Mr. Lawrence Danzel Sanson, aged 21, youngest son of Mr. A. H. Sanson, of Sanson. He had been employed by Mr. Colin Lawrence for the past eight months. He left the farm on afternoon for Otaki, which place he left at 7.30-on Sunday night. His absence during the week-end did not alarm his employer as he had been away on other occasions. " When Mr. Lawrence arrived home himself about midnight on Sunday he saw Mr. Sanson's shoes at the bacjc door and concluded that he had gone to his room and to bed. In the morning Mr. Sanson did not appear and an investigation showed that his bed had not been slept in.

A search was made and the body was recovered from a dam on the property, fully dressed except for the shoes. Where it was lying there was only 18 inches of water. The body lias been taken to Bulls, where an inquest will be held.
