FOR INQUIRIES.
A LABOURER REMANDED. ALLEGED THEFT AND FORGERY. Arrested by Constable Chalcraft, of the Queen's wharf police, a labourer, John Arthur Smith, aged 47, appeared in the Police Court yesterday, charged with the theft on March 14 of a Post Office Savings Bank book valued -at 1/, the property of William Henry Docetti Walker. He was further charged on the same date with forging a withdrawal slip purporting to be signed by W. H. D. Walker.
Sub-Inspector Fox asked that accused be remanded for one we'ek in order that tho necessary inquiries might be made. Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., granted the remand.
