HOTHOUSE GRAPES CHEAPER. POTATO SUPPLIES GOOD. The market to-day was fairly well supplied with all classes of fruit. Apples were rather dull of sale, but the demand for peaiti was fair. There are still large quantities of tomatoes coming forward, the demand being fair. Oranges are rather slow of sale, although there was quite a fair demand for choice quality lemons. Te Kauwhata grapes realised good prices, but hothouse varieties were slow of sale. The supply of peaches will soon be finished. The demand -for good quality passion fruit was fair, and quinces also met with a ready sale. The Niagara brought a fresh shipment of Fiji bananas yesterday. Quotations:— Apples: Gravenstein, 4/ to 6/6 per case; Cox's Orange, 4/ to 6/; cookers, 3/ to 4/9; Jonathan. 4/ to 6/. Pears: L.8.J., 5/ to 6/6; Packhams, 3/ to 5/; Bon Chretien, 5/6 to 6/6: Conference, 4/. Tomatoes: Outdoor, extra choice, smooth, 4/ to 5/; others, 2/ to 3/6; Hutt, 3/ to 4/. Oranges: Jamaican, 22/ to 24/. Lemons: Choice cured, 8/ to 10/; others, 4/ to 7/. Bananas: Ripe, 9/ to 14/. Pines: Queensland, 13/ to 14/. Grapes: Te Kauwhata, 7/6 to 9/6; hothouse, Hamburg, 5d to lid lb; Coleman, 9d to 1/ lb; Muscat, 1/ lb. Peaches: Golden Queen, 4/ to 6/0 case, 7/ to 8/6 crate. Nectarines: Choice, 9/ to 11/ case. Strawberries: Captain Cook, extra choice, 1/4 per chip. Blackberries: 4%d to fid lb. Cape Gooseberries: 4%d to 5d per lb. Passion fruit: 3/ to 4/0 case. Figs: 2/ to 3/ case. Quinces: 7/6 to 8/6 case. Vegetables. There were heavy supplies of swedes and pumpkins on the market to-day, and these sold at very cheap rates. Cabbages, cauliflower and green peas were plentiful, and met with a ready sale. Prices paid for lettuce and kumaras were lower than last week, but a keen demand prevailed for good quality celery. Quotations: —Beet, 3d to 8d dozen; cooking celery, fid to 9d bundle; dessert celery, 1/ to 2/6 bundle; carrots. 5d to 1/ dozen; cauliflowers, 7/ to 9/6 sack; cabbages, 3/ to 7/ sack; cucumbers, 1/6 to 3/6 dozen; French beans, 3/ to 6/ bag;, stringlpss, 6/ to 10/ bag; green peas, 3/ to 8/ bag; kumaras, 3/ to 4/6 bag: leeks, 2d to 3d bundle; lettuce, 2/ to 6/; marrows, 4cl to Bcl dozon; water melons, 3d to 1/6; rock melons, V/zd to 6d each; onions. 2/ to 3/3 bag; potatoes, Ohakune 4/ to 5/ bag, local 2/ to 3/6; pumpkins* Red Warren 2/ to 4/ cwt, best Crown, 6/ to 8/; parsnips, 8d to 1/ dozen; radish, 6d to 9d: rhubarb, 1/ to 1/6; spinach, 1/6 to 2/9; spring onion 6, 7d to lOd; swedce, 1/ to 2/6 bag. Poultry. At to-day's auctions the supply of poultry was heavy, and the demand was fair. Cockerels- sold at lower rates, but all other prices remained at last week s level. Selling rates were as follow: — Cockerels: Heavy breeds, prime, 3/ to 4/6 each; not prime, 9d upwards; light breeds, prime, 1/6 to 2/6; not prime, 6d upwards. Fat roosters: Heavy breeds, prime, 1/9 to 2/6; light breeds. 1/ to 1/6. Fat liens: Heavy breeds. 1/9 to 2/6; light breeds, 1/3 to 1/9. Pullets: Heavy breeds, best, 3/ to 5/6; smaller, 1/6 upwards; light breeds, best, 3/ to 5/6; smaller. 1/6 upwards. Drakes: Young, prime, 1/6 to 2/; smaller, 9d upwards: old. 1/3 to 1/6. Ducks: Young. 2/6 to 3/6; old. 1/3 to 1/6. Geese: 3/ to 4/. Turkeys: Hens, 3/6 to 5/6; gobblers, 6/ to 14/. Guinea fowls: 3/ to 3/6. Egos and Butter. Prices for eggs and butter show no difference on last week's levels. Hon: First grade, \/VA dozen; B grade, I/4V2; C grade. 11 %cl. Duck: First grade, 1/6% dozen; B grade, 1/5%: C grade, 1/1%.
