TALLOW AND HEMP. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. The Department of Agriculture lias received the following cablegram, dated March 14, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow.—Spot market is depressed; quotations nominal and slightly easier. Hemp.—Manila: Market steady at the decline. Closing values "K" grade for March-May shipment, £21. Sisal: Market quiet and slightly easier. Closing sellers £28 10/ for April-June shipment. New Zealand: Market unchanged. Nominal value for highpoints is £21 10/. Small business done in fair grade at £19 10/, and common grade at £18 5/. Stocks in London at March 1, 95 tons, as against 22 tous at the same time last year. Messrs. Joseph Nathan and Co. have received the following cable from their London principals, Messrs. Trengrousc and Nathan, Tooley Street, dated March 17:—Butter: 84/ per cwt. Cheese: White, 50/ per cwt; salted, 52/. Both markets very quiet. LEAD STATISTICS. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, March 16. Imports for February totalled 35,333 tous, including' Australian, 24,?23. Export! •were 8247 tons.
