CHILDREN NEGLECTED.

MOTHER. SENT TO GAOL

<Uy Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) WANGANUI, -this day.

Three neglected children were recently found in the house of their mother, Olive Louise Pickworth, in Bell Street, in a state of inconceivable squalor. The mother, aged 22, was charged with vagrancy at the Police Court this morning and was sentenced to two months' imprisonment. Senior Sergeant Capp said the children were poorly clad and there was no furniture in the home except a tabic and a box. Old rags were used for bedding. The husband was serving a term of imprisonment. The children, he added, were now under the care of the welfare officer.
