GATHERING IN CHRISTCHURCH.

To mark their gratitude to the retiring Mayoress, Mrs. D. G. Sullivan, a large and enthusiastic gathering of tho women of Christehureh was held on Saturday afternoon, when many speeches of thanks from representatives of social organisations preceded a presentation to commemorate tho work Mrs. Sullivan had devoted to the alleviation of distress among women and children. The chairman, Mrs. W. I'. Kent-Johnston, reported the successful progress of the scheme to add a Daisy Sullivan memorial sun porch to the Karitane Hospital, and stated that the meeting was composed of wcr?!?n of many religious beliefs and diverse political views, who met on common ground in honouring one who had done her duty nobly as tho leading woman citizen. The guest of honour was accompanied by her husband, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan.
