SOCIAL GATHERINGS.
A luncheon party was given in Tudor room of Milne and Choyce last .week, the hostess being Mrs. E. 11. Cox. The guest of honour was Miss Betty Dearsly, who accompanies her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Dearsly, on their trip to England and the Continent. » * » » Mr. C. Braync, C.M.G., a retired magistrate and Administrator of Ceylon, was the speaker at the morning tea held on Friday by the Auckland Travel Club. Mr. Braync gave a description of Ceylon, its tourist attractions, its wild life, its Jieople and its romantic history. Mrs. S.s.T. Wicksteed acted as hostess, and introduced the speaker, presenting Mrs. Brayne and Madame Lauri Alwyn, who were-guests at the official table, with shoulder sprays. Lady Wilson was Specially thanked for her gift of .a silver bell to*-be used by-'the chairwoman at : the morning teas. i » t * A unique function was licld in the Point Chevalier Ex-Servicemen's Hall last Saturday evening to commemorate the double golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Syd. Crombie and Mr. and Mrs. Alec Camish, the respective brides being sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Crombie's family were represented by Messrs. A. Crombie. W. Crombie and Mesdames H. Cheshire, H. Burns, H. Stowell, G. Simpson and Mrs.C.Webb. Mrs. McCaroish's representatives included Messrs. R. MeCamish, A. McCamisli and Mrs. R. Pat-, terson. A dance with vocal and humorous. interludes was enjoyed. Neville, Carlsen's concert party provided much appreciated numbers, and were ably assisted by Miss Nita Simpson and Mr. Peter Meek, with Mrs. Webster a-, accompanist.
