CONCESSION ASKED.
FOR SOME SOCIAL WORKERS. REDUCED TRAMWAY FARES. Tramway concessions to a limited number of social workers were requested by a deputation which waited on the Auckland Transport Board this morning, consisting of Monsignor Holbrook and the Rev. T. Halliday, chairman and secretary respectively of the Auckland Social Workers' Association. Monsignor Holbrook said the social workers had a great deal of running about to do in the course t of their inquiries and had to cover an extensive area. The question had been previously before the board, but in view of the altered constitution they again made the request with confidence. Mr. Halliday said the association would be satisfied if the cost of the pass on the tramway system were reduced from £12 to £6 and limited to (say) twenty holders. The association would certify to those who applied for the concession. The chairman, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, said the board would give the question careful consideration.
