Plans and specifications have been completed and tenders will be called immediately in Britain for the construction of a motor vessel to replace the steamer Wingatui in the Dunedin-Auck-laiul- trade, according to advice received from the Union Steam Ship Company.
The new ship will be somewhat similar in size and speed to the Waimarino. She will be 320 ft long between perpendiculars, and will have a- moulded breadth of 48ft, and a moulded depth of 20ft Oin. Her deadweight capacity will be 3850 tons on a draught of 19ft Oin. » The vessel will embody a number of •modern features designed to facilitate the handling of cargo. An average speed of .12 "knots in service is a condition of the contract. Accommodation for the officers and crew will be amidships.
