UNEMPLOYMENT.
BUSH OF INVENTIONS. LONDON, December 7. The telescoping of inventions into a narrow space of time is believed by Lord Hirst to be the cause of unemployment. Speaking at the 273 rd dinner of the Royal Society in London, he said: "Science lias been accused of being the cause of unemployment. "The real cause, I believe, is that through the, pressure of the war inventions and improvements that ordinarily might have come about in the course of "fenerations were telescoped into the space of four years, and the world wa» not able to make use of them quick'.y enough."
