HEALTH CAMP.
CITY MISSION WORK. HAPPY CHILDREN. Some sixty children are spending a delightful holiday in the City Mission camp at Oneroa, Waiheke. Most of tliein, whose ages range from 5 to 12 years, were in indifferent health and are deriving much benefit from the sunshine, bathing and nourishing foods. The Rev. Jasper Calder, of the City Mission, said that the camp, which has handled nearly 130 children these holidays, had been free from accident or sickness. Nurse Ida Watts was in 3 charge of the medical department, but her services had been mainly requisitioned to deal with local residents and visiting picnickers who had met with minor accidents. Mrs. A'. Wilkie, of the Mission staff, was in charge of the camp, which was founded in 1025, and up to the present had accommodated 1700 children and 280 family camps. It is hoped, by th'e next camp, to have the buildings lighted by electricity. The staff of the Lands and Survey Department (South' Auckland district), 1 Mr. Calder added, had fostered the camp f for many years past, the entire expense j of a playhouse and material as well as e four good tents having been supplied by c them. To-morrow afternoon a party of c 50 of the staff would make their annual f picnic of inspection to the camp. , The children would return to Auck- ]
land on Saturday, February 1.
