WEDDINGS

YOUNG— PEARSE. A pretty wedding of interest to a wide circle of friends was celebrated at St. Barnabas' Church, Mount Eden, last week, when Miss Edna Pearse, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Pearse, •of Mount Eden, was married to Mr. Archibald Jamieson Young, of Mount Eden, second son of Mrs. and the late Mr. A. Young. The Rev. A. E. Prebble, M.A., officiated. The church was tastefully decorated with Christmas Hlies and hydrangeas by Mrs. White (aunt ofythe bride ) and girl friends of the bride. Given away by her father the bride looked charming in a beautiful trained gown of rich magnolia satin fashioned on sculptured lines. The bodice cut with long closefitting sleeves to form a point over the hand was finished at the neckline with a soft cowl draping. A beautiful pearl and emerald brooch which belonged to the bride's grandmother was the only ornament worn. An exquisite veil of tulle and Limerick lace rell from a coronet of orange blossom to a long billowing train. The bride.carried a sheaf of cream roses and maidenhair fern. In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Zona Parkinson (Wellington) and Miss Norma Madigan (Auckland). Their frocks were of forest green lace mounted on taffeta. The bodices were cut on princess lines with draped shoulders. The skirts were tight-fitting to the knees to fall in wide flares showing a slight train. Ring velvet sashes of a deeper shade were draped round the waists to fall to the hem of the frocks at the back, shoes of the same shade being worn. Their picture hats were of green taffeta the same shade as the frocks and they carried sheafs of autumn-tinted roses. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. D. B. Mulvihill, as best man, and Mr. D. Young (brother of the groom) acted as groomsman. Ushers were Mr. W. Young and Mr. B. Davidson. '

Following the ceremony a reception which was attended by over 100 guests was held in the New Savoy dining rooms, where the tables and dance floor were decorated with beautiful summer blooms. Mrs. Pearse, assisted by Mrs. Young, received her guests wearing a beautiful gown of royal blue georgette trimmed with narrow bands of taffeta in the same shade. Her picture hat was of the same blue taffeta and she carried a posy of roses in beautiful dark pink shades. Mrs. Young, the bridegroom's mother, wore a black georgette ensemble, the frock being patterned with autumntinted- flowers.- She wore a large black picture hat. relieved with organdie flowers to match the pattern of her gown.
