ST. FRANCIS PRIZE-GIVING.

The annual prize-giving of the St. Francis School took place last Monday. The prizes were presented by Miss M. Slingsby-Newman and Miss D. P. Jenkin, principal, gave a report of the year's work. The pupils presented a programme of eurythmics arranged by Miss H. Lesser, the assistant, Christmas carols and recitations. Towards the end of the evening a Christmas tree was revealed, and gifts were distributed to the children by Santa Claus. Gifts made by the children for their parents were also displayed. The senior pupils read amusing rhymes of their own composition about tin; utility bags which they had made. On behalf of the parents, Mr. A. L. Caughey expressed appreciation of tin 1 work and the high ideals maintained at the school.
