PRISON SUPERINTENDENT.

MR. DICKISON'S RETIREMENT

The staff of the Mount Edea Prison tendered a farewell to Mr. James Dickison, superintendent, who is retiring after 41 years' service with the Prison Depart. nieut. The Rev. G. E. Moreton, on behalf of the staff, presented Mr. Dicki.son with a tangible token of the esteem in which he was held. Mr. Moreton also referred to Mr. Dickison's good work as superintendent and his sense of fairness, not only to the officers but to all those connected with the prison. A token of the esteem in which Mrs. Diekison was held by the officers was a piece of art pottery which was presented to Mr. Dickison for his wife in acknowledgment of her interest in the welfare of the staff. Mr. C. Anderson, chief clerk, also tendered his felicitations on behalf of the staff and thanked Mr. Dickison for_ his kindlv consideration from time to time. Mrl C. E. Spittal, chief warder, referred to the good will which existed .between the superintendent and the staff. Mr. Dickison thanked the officers for their co-operation in his work and said that at times it was difficult and required a great deal of tact. He trusted that they would extend to his successor the same loyalty and co-operation.
