HEAVY TRAFFIC.
MANY RAIL EXCURSIONISTS. DELAY TO FIRST EXPRESS. There was exceptionally heavy railway traffic to and from Auckland to-day, and extra trains were needed to cope with the holiday traffic. The first express, due at 0.20 from Wellington, was an hour late on reaching Auckland, this being due to heavy traffic from the South, and arrangements which had to be made for other trains to pass. The Limited was slightly behind time only.
This afternoon an express was dispatched to Wellington at 3.30, and another will leave.at 7.40 this evening, with, in addition, at 7.55, an express to New Plymouth. The bookings on all the ex|)reases have been heavy.
In addition to the excursion traffic during the past few days there lias been a big demand for transport for live stock and goods.
