The state of the track would have Riven occasion for fast times at the weekly meeting of the Whangarel Amateur Athletic Club held last night, but the track .keepers were not on duty. A remarkably close finish was "witnessed in the final of the men's 75 yards, the whole six starters practically breaking the tape en. masse. Results :•— 220 Yards, Senior Girls.—S. Stewart, 14yds, 1; J. Kirkby, 14yds, 2; P. Alison, 10yds. 3. „ , „ 75 Yards, Men.—P. Donaldson, Iyd, 1; A. B. Ross, 6yds, 2; A. E. Lacey, 3yds, and J. Squire, scr, dead-heat, 3. Three Miles. —L. Mcßeath, scr, 1; E. W. Carter, 300 yds, 2. 120 Yards Hurdles.—A. E. Lacey, owe syds, 1; R. Donaldson, owe 17yds, 2; E. Blow, scr, 3. High Jump.—R. Donaldson (scr) and E. Blow (scr), 4ft 7Jin, equal, 1; A. Haigh (IJin), 4ft 7iin, 3. The Whangarel Cycling Club held a race at Jubilee Park last evening. The track was in good order, especially the straights, and with a little more attention will make a lirst-class racing way. The race last evening was eight laps (two miles). 11. Buckland (455) was first, T. Clark 2, and Beeston (455) 3. Time, 7.15. Clark gained fastest time of 6.35.
