NEW FIRE ENGINE.
TO BE USED IN AUCKLAND. A new fire engine which had been ordered by the Auckland Metropolitan Fire Board is due from Wellington tomorrow, and after testing and construction of the body work it will be placed in commission. Driven by an eightcylinder engine, the machine is fitted with a special centrifugal pump which will deliver 400 gallons of water a minute at high pressure. A now feature of the machine will bo accommodation for firemen inside the vehicle, while the officer in charge will sit outside beside the driver. On the sides of the machine will be carried a complete modern outfit of fire fighting equipment.
