"IN A PICKLE."
MUSSOLINI'S PLIGHT. MR. P. M. B. FISHER RETURNS. With the actual military problem of conquering Abyssinia, together with the certainty of sanctions being , applied, Mussolini was "in a. pickle," said Mr. F. M. B. Fisher, one-time Minister for Customs in the New Zealand Government, who arrived by the Rangitata from London this afternoon. Beginning with a tour of the Dominion, he is going on to Australia, then to Egypt, to Athens, and finally back to England.
There was never any fear of Engla.nd being involved in war, Mr. Fisher said, not even at tho beginning. The reason for Britain's action, he said, did not concern tho-Nile headwaters; rather it was a test of whether the League could stand firm.
