MEAT TRADE.
GOOD PROGRESS. FUTURE PROSPECTS QOOD. MR. R. S. FORSYTH RETURNS. The necessity for the future regulation of the meat market for the purpose of maintaining a 6table price level was emphasised by Mr. E. S. Fomyth, C.M.G., manager of the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board in Britain, in an interview on hie arrival by the Eangitata from London this afternoon.
Mr. Forsyth pointed out the striking growth in the demand at Home for New Zealand mutton and lamb, and quoted figures to show the growth made in the export meat trade in New Zealand. In the season just ended a record number of carcases had been exported to England, and the faetce contributing to this gratifying • position were the better trade conditions in Great Britain and the decrease in unemployment. "There are indications of further improvement in economic conditions at Home, and the feeling of confidence is both widespread and marked," said Mr. Foreyth. "New Zealand lamb is ywell and favourably known, and no product will respond quicker to better trade conditions. ts "Our lamb is now distributed in every town and village in the United Kingdom. The progress of our chilled beef is 'most gratifying, and shipments continue to show a steady improvement in condition, colour, bloom and dressing. Our meat ie popular, and is well distributed and advertised, so that we are in the best possible position to benefit from ar.y increase in the purchasing power of the British public," said Mr. Foreyth.
