("Scotty") Allen, who 1 was associated with Sir Charles Kingsford Smith in some of his exploits in the air, -believes that there is still hope that the famous Australian and his companion, Mr. T. Pethybridge, will be found alivc.i Mr. Allen, who arrived with the London air mail, said the general opinion among the Royal Air Force men at Singapore was that if the missing siirmen had descended in the jungle, they might have met natives who would care for them. READY FOR BIG HOP. Ellsworth Prepared for Flight Across Antarctic. MACHINE IN POSITION. NEW YORK, November 19. The North American Newspaper Alliance has received the following copyright wireless message from Mr. Lincoln Ellsworth at Dundee Island, in the Antarctic:— "Wβ are now completely ready to start on our trans-Antarctic flight. If the weather is good and the snow surface favourable we will take off at 8 o'clock thia morning. All yesterday the men hauled sledge loads of material up the steep grade to almost the top of the island. At midnight the last of the petrol and other supplies were loaded into the Polar Star, the aeroplane was taxied into position the instruments checked."
