MORE DOCTORS REQUIRED
MOVE BY HOSPITAL BOARD.
The Auckland Hospital Board decided yesterday to take initial steps in connection with the training of medical men in Auckland. The chairman, Mr. W. Wallace, said that many of the hospitals in New Zealand were now having difficulty in obtaining resident medical men. He added that a year ago the medical school authorities had said that it would be necessary to reduce the number of students as there were too many doctors. Exception was taken at the time, but nothing had been done, and now several hospitals were short. Aβ it had been stated by the medical superintendent, Dr. J..W. Craven, that there would be fewer resident doctors available in the coming year, it was time the medical school authorities took up the question of establishing a part-time' medical school in Auckland. Mr. Kenneth Mackenzie had clone all that he could to bring the position before the notice of the University Senate. It was decided that Mr. Wallace and Dr. E. B. Gunson and Mr. Mackenzie go into the matter with the New Zealand University Senate.
