APPEAL TO RETURNED MEN. A cordial welcome was extended last evening by the president, Mr. Jamee Prickett, to a large gathering of members of the Birkenhead Returned Soldiers' Association in the Buffalo Hall to Sir Andrew liueeell, Sir George Richardson, Mr. G. R. Hutchinson, Messrs. J. W. Kendall (president) and Ohlson (secretary), of the Auckland R.S.A., and Mr. A. J. Lennou, president of the Northcotc R.S.A. An appeal that all returned men should join up with the elube in their districts and for unity of puipoee was made by Sir Andrew liueeell, who also outlined a scheme having for its object n certain amount o£ decentralisation, ensuring direcc representation by clubs on the executive of the Auckland R.S.A. The concessions the Government had made to returned soldiers and their dependents were referred to, especially under the War Veterans' Ac>t. He also answered numerous questions relating to returned soldiers' problems. Sir George Richardson spoke regarding peveions and R.S.A. matters generally and sketched the history of the Auckland R.S.A., and mentioned how, a few- years ago, the clubs were brought into existence and how successful they had been. Mr. Kendall said that the various matters discussed would receive favourable consideration.
Prior to their departure ' the visitors were accorded musical honours, the gathering singing, "For They are Jolly Good Fellows."
