PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE.
CLOTHES DRIVE AND JUMBLE SALE. Held recently in the districts of Bays.water, Takapuna and Milford, the clothes drive and street collection to raise funds for the children's annual Christmas treat organised by the Waitemata Women's Progressive League was an unqualified success.
Later a jumble- sale to dispose of goods collected was held in the Parish Hall, Belmont. The sale was well attended and stall holders were kept busy throughout the day and evening. During the afternoon a baby show was organised, the prize winners being Baby Dryland, of Bayswater, iirst, and Baby Wright, of Takapuna, second. The judges were Nurse Anderson and Nurse Ormsby. Helpers in charge of the various stalls were as follow:—Children and fancy stall, Mrs. Carter, sen., and Mrs. Keith Carter; sundries, Mrs. Hoskins; confectionery, Mrs. Culpan; cake stall, Mrs. K. Anderson; book stall, Miss Hardwick, assisted-by Mrs. Scott; flowers, Miss O'Neill; clothing stall, Mrs. Bestic and Mrs. Ormsby. Altogether the results from the whole effort were highly gratifying. Sufficient finance is in hand to give the children of the above-mentioned districts their annual Christmas treat once again.
