CLOSING SOCIAL.
HIGHER THOUGHT CENTRE. A varied programme of entertainment and dancing was presented in the hall of the Higher Thought Temple last evening as the final of a series of fortnightly social evenings that have been heid during the winter in aid of the building fund. The orchestra took up its position on the stage, which was adorned with golden calendulas, arum lilies and greenery, and a canopy of multicoloured streamers extended over the dancing floor. Mrs. Charles Dickens (convener) received the guests wearing a frock of brown Chantilly lace. During the evening songs were sung by Miss Lillian Braithwaito and Miss Doris Webb, violin solos were rendered by Mr. J. Diggle and instrumental items were played by an instrumental trio consisting of Mrs. J. W. Probert and her family. Accompaniments were played by Mrs. R. Reed. During an interval Mrs. Dickens made presentations to Mesdames C Fagan, R, M. Goldie, Dcverick, J. Freestone, E. Green, T. McCune, P. Hubbert, Miss I. White, Mr. A. H. Chambers and Mr. E. Ncilson in appreciation of the services they had rendered in connection with, the social' entertainments.
