BAND DANCE.

"VICE-VERSA" CARNIVAL. The Band Hall, Taliaroto Road, Takapuna, was the. scene of gaiety and colour on Wednesday evening, when over 50 couples attended a successful "viceversa" carnival dance, organised by the social committee of tlio Takapuna Citizens' Band in aid of funds. Excellent dance music was supplied by the band orchestra comprising Mrs. B. J. Findlay (piano), Messrs. L. Holland (saxophone),. S. McNair (violin), P. Swanbeck (drums), assisted by accordion extras by Messrs. J. Henderson and A. Langridge. The judges (Mr. W. Lawrence and Mrs. Findlay) made the following awards, which met with the unanimous approval of all present: Best "lady," Mr. Sid Taylor; best "gentleman," Mrs. N. Gardner; most original, Mr. Jack Stevenson and Miss D. Webster; special, Mr. Noel Gardner. The Monto Carlo waltz was • won by Miss Mackic and Mr. L, Lees, and the spot waltz was. won by Miss Eveleigh and Mr. Murtagh. Mr. Allan Brown won the special gentlemen's Monte Carlo prize donated by Mrs. R. Redshaw for the greatest number of wins in the Monte Carlo dances over a period of six weeks.

Mr. L. J. Henderson (band secretary) ably officiated as master of ceremonies. During the evening a set of dainty dressing table mats (donated by Mrs. W. Casley) was won by Mrs. Wotherspoon.
