(Received 3 p.m.) RUGBY, November 14. The Liberal Leader, Sir Herbert Samuel, was defeated by over 1000 votes at Darwen by the Conservative candidate. The state of the parties at midnight, including the unopposed returns, was: — Conservatives 73 Liberal-National 5 Labour 34 Independent 1 Labour gained 1C scats. Lord Eustace Percy retained Hastings, being the first Cabinet Minister to be returned in a contested election.
