NOTES FROM TE AROHA.
SOME WAIKATO CANDIDATES PROSPECTS OF MAZIR.
J. H. Wallace's Muzir is holding hie racing condition very well, and his track work continuce to be of a consistent nature. He is to bo a contestant on the second day of the Waikato meeting. Bonnie Song hae improved in apppaiance since racing at the Waikato Hunt Club meeting, and is now more muscular in appearance. She appears to be one tliat races better with the colours up, ae her track work is never outstanding. 6»e can still bo improved in tho matter ot racing condition, and may register her share of wins as the racing season advances. Although not very much has been ficcn lately of Record Flight on the training tracks, he is being allotted a fair amount of road work. In the course of a week or so he may bo speeded up, and if hie efforts arc satisfactory he will be nominated for events to be run in December. Fei-Mah may not be long before running into tho prize money, but both in appearance and track work he is improving decidedly. The Paladin gelding is quite likely to be a good performer "during the present season, ae he has pace and staying qualities. ■ -, ~ Tho Te Monnnin— Elnona gelding Kllanui is coming back to form, and is now galloping very freely. On Thursday! morning he accounted for Desert Star decisively over five furlongs, the time being similar to that registered by open class horses. C. E. Mallowes has both these horses in fine trim, and a Win for cither in the near future would be popular. , Val Watch is bowling along on the training ground in her best style, and will bo in tip-top order to compete nt the Takapuha meeting this month. She is generally ridden by her trainer, A. li.. Cox, in' her work, and he certainly hue succeeded in bringing her into a more tractable mood. Tho Waikato Cup representatives Mungatoon and day Rose have, been working well on the tracks, but in point of condition the former is the more solid of the pair. It will largely depend upon his running at Te Rapa whether he will be given a thorough preparation for the Auckland Cup. N .T. Prenter will have Gay Egypt. Madelon and Te Mavanui racing at Te Rapa to-morrow and Monday. This trio is well forward, and on a good track they should run prominently.
HORSES FOR TE RAPA
G.iv Bronc.v. fiunting Maid and Valepear left Klleralie for To Rapa this morning to fulfil encasements at the Waikato meeting. Kelly and Eereatu are due to leave to-morrow.
LORD VAL RECOVERED
The hurdler Lord Val, who met with an injury through over-reaching during a schooling bout a few days ago has made ■i <rood recovery. At Ellerslie this morning lie"was given a sound gallop over a round on the No. 3 grass track, and ran the distance in 1.46 3-5. The last seven furlongs took 1.34 1-5, and the final _ six 1 20 3-5. and he was running on nicely at the finish. If Lord Val jumps safely in his engagements at Te Rapa he should earn some money at the meeting.
