STABLE AND TRACK NOTES.

IN WINNING FORM. Erination, top-weight in the Waimai Hurdles at Te Rapa on Saturday, won on the first day of the Paeroa meeting and was. only beaten in the last bit on the second day. Coming on to Auckland, he accounted for the Trial Hurdles and the Manukau Hurdles, winning both in convincing fashion. If lie is produced in the same form this week he should again be hard to beat. RELATED TO WHARNCLIFFE. The four-year-old filly by Romney from Takahau has had the name Marelene bestowed on her. She has been sprinted a few times over short distances, and although she has not been seriously tested lier displays have been very promising. Marelene will race in the colours of Mr. W. J. Wilson, who also races Tybalt. She is a half-sister to Wharncliffe, who won the Grand National Hurdle Race m 1927. WILL BE TROUBLESOME. Although Brilliant Acre failed to get in the money in the Bardowie Handicap at the Waikato Hunt meeting, lie went a good race. He was close up behind the placed horses at the finish after being one of the pacemakers most of the way. As it was Brilliant Acre's first race this season the run should do him a lot of good, and if "he goes to the post in the Trial Stakes at Te Rapa he will be very troublesome. SHOULD BE IN THE PICTURE. Sir Abb, who is engaged in the Waikato Cup on Saturday, has been working very satisfactorily at Ellerslie since lie ran second to Sinking Fund in the Liverpool Handicap, one mile, at the Auckland spring meeting. He has previously won oyer a mile and a quarter, so that there is no doubt about him being able to get the jburney, and he promises to be in the picture at the finish. His usual pilot, H. Wiggins, will ride him. HAS GOOD PROSPECTS. Lady Eka. who has been brought up from Taranaki to fulfil engagements at the Waikato spring meeting, has been galloping well since her arrival there. This mare ran second to Gay Boy in the Putiki Handicap, eight furlongs and a half, at the Wanganui spring meeting last September. She was also second to Tahurangi in a similar event at Waverley on Labour Day, and on those showings is not without prospects. She is trained by G. Reid. AN IMPROVED FILLY. The latest track doings of Marjory Daw point to her being on the improve, proof of this being her pleasing effort over three furlongs at Ellerslie yesterday morning. This filly has only had one race, running unplaced in the Avondale Stakes last September. However, little notice can be taken of that effort, as she was backward, but has made a good deal of improvement in the interim. Marjory Daw is engaged in the Tamahere Stakes at Te Rapa on Saturday, and it \vill be interesting to see how she acquits herself in that event. TASK WILL BE HARDER. Now that Royal Appellant has shown winning form further successes are likely to be in store for the son of Appellant. He won in good style at Whangarei and is due to make his next appearance in the Taupiri Hack Handicap at the Waikato meeting on Saturday. His task will not be so easy at the latter fixture, as the class is much better than that which he beat at Whangarei. However, he is an improving hack, and if he goes to the post at the end of the week his prospects will have to be seriously considered.

HAS SHOWN PROMISE. Queen's Council, the half-sister to Bambury, is at the head of the Tamahere Stakes, an event for two-year-elds, run at Te Rapa next Saturday. At the recent Auckland meeting this filly showed most promising form, for, after running fourth in the Welcome Stakes, she was narrowly beaten by Gallio in the Musket Stakes on the second day. Queen's Council is one of A. J. Julian's team, and those outings should have improved her.
