CENTENARY CARNIVAL ? AUSTRALIAN AND NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. Members of the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association and aquatic enthusiasts seldom miss an opportunity of drawing attention to the lack of adequate facilities in Auckland for big carnivals. Last night at the conference of representatives of local bodies and other organisations, attended by 240 delegates (representing 153 organisation), Mr. Rex Moore said: "On behalf of the Auckland Centre of the N.Z.A.S.A. I have to advise you that it is our intention to hold in Auckland in February, 1940, the Australian and New Zealand championships. That is, of course, Mi*. Mayor,- if the council will be good enough to supply us with suitable facilities." Mr. Ernest Davis also happens to be president of the Auckland Swimming Centre, and as convener of the conference, his Worship smiled broadly at the announcement, which created a favourable impression generally.
