OBITUARY.
MR. M. J. KEARNEY.
The death has occurred in Auckland of Mr. M. J. Kearney, in his ninety-fifth year. He was born in County Armagh, Ireland, and lived for some time in Scotland, England and the United States. Coming to New Zealand with his wifo and family in the Waikato 58 years ago, he served for nearly 38 years with Tonson, Oaf lick and Company, and was head of the receiving and dispatch department on his retirement. Mrs. Kearney died about a year after the diamond jubilee of their wedding, at the age of 80, leaving a family of 12 children. Mr. Kearney was for some years a lieutenant in the Victoria Rifles. He was grand master of the Grand Lodge of Scotland, 708, Ponsoiiby. He was also a keen church worker.
