ROAD OPEN.
WAIPU COVE-MANGAWAI
TEMPORARY BRIDGES ERECTED. On tho northern East Coast Road, between Waipn Covo and Mangawai, which road has been closed for nine months following the destroying of bridges by flood, temporary bridges have been erected and access is now available from Waipu through Waipu Cove to Laing's Beach. A report received by tho Automobile Association (Auckland) from a patrol states that 'the road is still in extremely bad order. South of La ing's Beach one small bridge has not been replaced but traffic is not blocked. At several points on the road tho surface is soft mud and several slips have occurred narrowing tho road leaving barely room to pass. The Automobile Association (Auckland) has received word from tho Whangarei County Council that it will repair tho road and carry out maintenance work at an early date.
