AUCKLAND WELSH SOCIETY.
An enjoyable evening was spent on Saturday at the Overseas League roon s, when the Auckland Welsh Society held its usual monthly meeting. This month was "ladies' night" and the programme went with a good swing under the management of Mrs. Linthwaite, who took the chair. Madame Powdrell's ladies' string band played excellent music, also an instrumental duet. A Welsh eketch, consisting of a mock breach of promise case and a mock wedding, was performed by eight members of the society, Mesdames Harris, Griffiths, Osborne. Oldiss, Roberta. Conway, Cole and G. Jones. Mrs. Harold King entertained with some clever poi items and Maori songs. The three Millar sisters gave a clever acrobatic dance. The laughing song and whistling .-ong performed by Mrs. Pike was a gr-jat success. The Misses Hammond rendered a pianoforte duet. The evening was brought to a close by eight members of the society's choir, who, dressed in soldiers' uniforms, led the audience in community singing of Digger songs. An enjoyable supper was provided by an energetic ladies' committee.
