ISLAND ORANGES.
SEASON'S JLAST SHIPMENT. When a hurricane swept the Cook Islands in the early part of the year, a great part of the orange crop was destroyed. but on. Aitutaki, one of the islands of the group that suffered most severely from the hurricane, the orange groves have produced a "freak" second crop, of which over 5000 cases will arrive at Auckland on Friday by the Union Company steamer, Wairuna, which called there on her way from Los Angeles. Second crops of oranges are not uncommon in the Cook Islands, but rarely are such crops as heavy as they have been this season. The fruit is usually of particularly good appearance and quality. The Wairuna is bringing the last shipment of Island oranges that will arrive at Auckland this year, but the first shipment of Jamaican oranges this season will arrive by the Tainui about the end of this week.
