"A stupid and vicious rumour has been circulated to the effect that I shall cease to give my personal support, as chairman of tho W.C.C., to unemployment affairs if I do not receive their support," said Mr. Bishop. "This is grossly untrue. Ido not attempt to intimidate anyone. If you consider that my opponents can do more for you than me, by all means vote for them." A motion of confidence was carried unanimously. STATEMENT EXPLAINED. Mr. J. Caughley, Democrat candidate for Kaipara, explains that during his meeting at Awakino Point his remarks relating to exchange and station agents became involved and ambiguous owing to an interjection about banks. SAVINGS BANK ALLEGATIONS. Votes of confidence were accorded Mr. A. S. Richards (Labour, Roskill) at Owair&ka meetings yesterday.
