RECORD TRIP FAILS.
COMPLAINT OF TREATMENT. (Received 1.30 p.m.) LOXDOX, October 21. Mr. li. F. Broadbent, Australian aviator who was attempting a record solo flight from Australia to England, arrived to-day by an Imperial Airways liner at Croydon. He said lie had left Basra in his Puss Moth machine CO hours ahead of Mr. H. L. Brook's unofficial solo record and five hours ahead of that established last Xovember by Flight-Lieutenant Catli-cart-Jones and Mr. Waller, confident of reaching Athens non-stop, but his engine had failed only 20 miles out from Basra. lie made a forced landing, damaging the undercarriage.
He is supplying Australia House with a detailed report of his treatment en route.

Maguirc, who intend to apply for commissions in the Royal Air Force, have arrived at Karachi. They have flown from Australia. NOTED POLISH AIRMAN. FLIGHT TO AUSTRALIA. Captain Stanislaus Karpinski, Poland's most famous airman, started the first hop to Bagdad, of a flight to Australia.
