ORPHEUS CLUB.
MUSIC AND DRAMA. There was a very good attendance of members and their friends at the rooms of the Overseas League last night for the seventh evening of the season. The programme opened with a piano quartet, "Overture" (Gurlitt), played by Edna Bunting, Edna Grinter, Doreen Paterson and Camille Le Long. Next were vocal solos by Mrs. Hal McLennan, Gilberti's "Ah! Love but a Day" and Mascagni's "Romance c Scena." For both of these flute obbligatos were played by Hal McLennan. There followed a piano solo of Delibes, "Valse Lente," played by Joyce McKean. Barbara Cross and Mattie Paterson were associated in two vocal duets by Hunt and Moore, "Madrigal to May" and "Last Rose of Summer." Camille Le Long was heard in piano solos, Schumann's "Souvenir" and May's "A-sailing." A monologue followed, Weston's "Art of Proposing," the performer being Nancy Prichard. Hal McLennan was responsible for Krantz* "Grand Solo" for the flute. May Rowbotham, Frances E. French, Laurie Halpin and Cyril Walsh played "Valsa Alelancolique." by Noliynek, a work written for two pianos. Mrs. Collicoat
contributed two vocal yolos, Spohr's "Rose Softly Blooming" and Gounod's "Au Printemps." The next item was a piano solo played by Avis Hill, "Courante," by Handel. The remaining vocal item was a quartet by German, "Love Was Meant to Make Us Glad." This was given by Madge Taylor, Mrs. Eric Webb, Cyril Shepherd and Robert Simmers. The last of the musical items was the melodious "Blue Danube" of Strauss, arranged for two pianos and played by Theo. JTalpm and Lucy Tripp. The final present ition was a play by Noel Coward for which Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Bailey were responsible. Those taking part were Messrs. Frith, Ballantine, Easton, Sailus, Young, Pysker, Wliitwell and Paislow.
