RAILWAY TICKET SOLD.
UNUSUAL PROSECUTION. An unusual case came before Mr. F. K. Hunt at the Police Court on Saturday, when Henry Arthur Esdale was charged with selling the return portion of a railway ticket for a journey from Auckland to Hamilton. Defendant pleaded guilty. Senior-Detective S. G. Hall said that the practice had been going on for some time and the Railway Department took a serious view of the matter. Defendant was fined 40/ and ordered to pay costs 10/ and to make restitution 2/6, in default 14 days. He was allowed i seven days in which to pay.
