ATTEMPTED MURDER CASE. TRIAL OPENS AT DUNEDINV (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ■■' DTJNEDIN, this Say. Walter Leslie Kedzlie, who pleaded guilty to breaking and entering at Waikouaiti, and Maurice James Hiirring, charged with receiving, were remanded for sentence at the Supreme Court criminal sittings to-day. The trial has commenced of John Haig Roebuck, aged 17, on a charge of attempting to murder Isabel Henderson at Tapui on August 11. The Crown Prosecutor, Mr. Adams, said the case hung on whether accused was entitled to acquittal on the ground of insanity. On August 10 accused finished work as usual. That night he obtained a knife, entered Mrs. Henderson's bedroom, and struck at her. When she screamed he dashed back to his hut. He made two statements. In the first he denied all knowledge of the crime and in the second admitted his guilt. (Proceeding.)
