RIFLE SHOOTING.
AKARANA CLTJB. ' The concluding shoot of the Akarana Rifle Club's first trophy series was fired over the ranges of 800 and 900 yards for trophies presented by the patron, president and Mr. J. B. Donald. Conditions were favourable for good Bhooting at 800 yards, but a changeable wind and light made sighting difficult at the lone range. Trophies were won by R. p Wakefield, J. Mills and D. TYRO WINS KING'S PRIZE.
SYDNEY, Saturday. At the national rifle meeting, T. 15. Ashton (South Australia) who has never participated before, won the King's Prize to-day with an aggregate of 345 points. He defeated his clubmate, W. T. Collyer, who also totalled 345. In the shoot-ofi Ashton won by, one point.
AUCKLAND CITY CLUB.
Championship shooting was continued by the Auckland City Defence Rifle Club .over the long ranges last Saturday. Sighting was much Improved, and, with favourable conditions generally, some high scores were recorded, Including possibles by Blomfleld and Clark at 800 yds. With added handicaps Clark and J. E. The Whakatane Defence Hifle Club held its third fortnightly shoot on Saturday. A most tricky wind caused the scores to be low.
