FORTUNATE ESCAPE.
CAR'S FALL INTO CREEK. STEERING GEAR AT FAULT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Owing to the steering gear jamming on a corner of Paekakariki Hill on the Wellington side of the summit, a light motor car crashed into a fence and somersaulted 25ft to the bed of a creek. Mrs. K. L. Bethune, of Kilbirnie, suffered severe shock and a fractured leg. There were five people in the car, the driver being Mrs. Bethune's husband.
