Mr. O. Nicholson is leaving for the South by the Limited to-night. Mr. W. G. Wohlmann, Commissioner of Police, returned to Wellington by train last night. Mr. Allan Wilson, of Pukaki Street, Rotorua, a member of tho Post Ofliee staff, has been transferred on promotion tc Wellington. Mr. R. L. Grant, general manager for New Zealand of British Empire Films, left Wellington yesterday on a business trip to Sydney. Mr. F. W. Schramm, M.P., and the HOll. A. Burns and tho Hon. C. J. Carringlon, M.L.C.'s, left for Wellington by the Limited last night. Mr. Alexander Watson, of London, tho well-known Scottish elocutionist, and Mrs. Watson, arrived from New Plymouth yesterday. They are at the Hotel Cargen. Tho Hon. A. Hamilton, Minister of Labour, who has been presiding at the conference in Auckland concerning the Waihi mining dispute, returned to Wellington last night. Mr. N. S. Falla, managing director of the Union Steam Ship Company, who has been visiting England, will arrive at Auckland by the Monowai from Vancouver 011 October 28. Mr. H. Heinus, of the firm of A. B. Donald and Co., Ltd., Auckland, returned to Wellington by the Maunganui on Monday after a visit of inspection to tho company's Pacific Island branches.
Master Bruce Whiteman, of Scarborough, who has been granted a scholarship by the New Zealand Shipping Company, Ltd., for entrance to the Thames Nautical College, IT.M.S. Worcester, Grccnhithc, Kent, will join the Middlesex at Auckland for London. Mr. Peter I"rawer, M.P. for Wellington Central, who was a delegate to the Kmpire Parliamentary Association conference recently held in London, will be a passenger by the Monowai, which is duo at Auckland from Vancouver 011 October 28. He is accompanied by Mrs. Fraser. Mr. F. P. Fnrkert, F.R.C.S., who has been acting as house surgeon at the Bolingbroke Hospital, S.W., London, and has been appointed non-resident surgical registrar at the Auckland Hospital, with Mrs. Furkert and their two children, will probably leave England for New Zealand this month.
Mr. James Hossack, head of the geography department of the Royal High School, Edinburgh, has arrived in Duncdin to take up a position 011 the staff of the Otago Boys' High School. Mr. W. G. MeClymont, with whom Mr. Hossack has exchanged positions for one year, has left 011 his journey to Scotland.
